The layout of a kitchen is simply the shape that’s made by the arrangement of essential aspects of a kitchen. These are going to be your:
- Major appliances
- Countertop and;
- Storage areas
The floor plan creates the work triangle of a kitchen or simply, the path you travel when moving from the sink, fridge to range to prepare and cook your meal. When working on the design of kitchen and zeroing in on cabinetry, one of the things to be considered is going to be the layout of the kitchen.
There are five popular kitchen layouts which are Single, U, G and L. In a short while, we will be discussing each of this layout. Depending on the size of the kitchen, you can have an island to create more counter space and expand storage. Of course, depending on the layout of your kitchen, it is necessary to keep it clean. Having an easy access to vacuum cleaners ensure that there’s no build up of dust and dirt. You may compare Dyson stick vacuums to have the best purchase decision.
L-Shaped Kitchen
In L-shape layout, this serves as a natural work triangle. The advantage of having this floor plan is the fact that it is not just creating efficiency but also, it is open to nearby room. This makes it easier for the cook to still interact with the family or guests.
U-Shaped Layout
Home designers consider this as the most versatile kitchen layout. It’s for the reason that the layout is offering a continuous countertop as well as ample storage. Also, it is surrounding the cook on all three sides.
To make the most of the storage and free the countertop from clutter, consider concealing the microwave in wall cabinet or base.
G-Shaped Kitchen Design
This is more like a U-shaped floor plan but the only difference with this one is, the partial wall or peninsula of additional cabinets. Technically, it has the same storage options and counter space with U-shaped layouts.
Single Wall
If you have limited space kitchen, then this would do. In this layout, work triangle is less like one and more of work line with all the three kitchen zones in a single wall, hence the name.
